My name is Burcu (pronounced "Ber-sha") Hensley and I practice criminal defense in Madison, Yancey, and Buncombe Counties in Western NC. I have a strong drive to help those in need. Before deciding to attend law school, I taught in preschool classrooms for nearly seven years, working with children with a wide range of abilities. This experience taught me that not everyone's needs are the same and that to truly help someone, I must listen to their needs and problems and work closely with them to find a solution that's right for their situation.
In 2012, I graduated from the Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law at Campbell University, where I earned honors in Pretrial Litigation and Advanced Trial Advocacy. I was a member of the Old Kivett Advocacy Council as well as a student member of the Susie Sharp Inn of Court. I really enjoyed being in the courtroom even during school and always got a great rush out of standing up and making a great argument in front of the judge or the jury.
Prior to attending law school, I received my Bachelor of Science in Business Management from North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC. This education gave me the tools I needed to run a solo law firm so I can see that all my clients receive the personal attention they deserve. That kind of attention isn't always possible in a larger firm.
In my free time, I enjoy the great outdoors and I love photography.
